The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library Teen Advisory Group is hosting a FREE Anime Movie Marathon for Teens. If you love watching anime like Naruto, Bleach and Final Fantasy VII, come to the Anime Movie Marathon Event Monday July 7 from 1:15 to 7:45pm in the Program Room of the Main Library at 50 East Street. Golf fore Kids When: August 22, 2008

Love to Golf? Why not "Golf fore Kids?" Take part in this 2nd annual charity tournament by Algoma Family Services! 8:30am shotgun start, Friday August 22nd, 2008, at "The Oaks in Kincheloe" in Kinross, Michigan. Cost is 75 dollars per golfer, 300 dollars per team of four. Includes 18 holes of golf plus cart, prizes and dinner at the Water Tower Inn here in Sault Ste. Marie. Limited to 144 golfers. Dance Dance Revolution! Where: Sault Ste. Marie Public Library
Are you ready to dance? Get active by jumping to this popular PlayStation 2 game during the lunch hour. This FREE teen program will be held in the Program Room of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library's Main Branch, at 50 East Street, from 12 noon to 1pm every Tuesday this summer beginning July 8. Beginners welcome. Play Safe Program Where: All Over Town
Summer is here and school is out, and we want kids to play safe! The Sault Ste. Marie Police, OPP and Anishinabek Police Services will be on the lookout for children that are playing safely and are obeying all the safety rules and wearing the appropriate "Personal Protective Equipment" for the activity they are taking part in. If you are bicycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, swimming or playing in the playground and doing all the right things, an officer patrolling your area may stop you to present you with a certificate that was printed courtesy of Algoma Office Equipment and also a coupon that can be redeemed at Lock City Dairies, at their McNabb Street location, for a novelty ice cream treat. Your coupon will then be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of 13 bikes donated by Great Lakes Power. Canadian Tire will also donate a helmet and lock for each bike won. So kids, enjoy a great summer and make sure to play safe!
Grieving Well: Bereavement Support Where: VON Office
The Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) is hosting an important session for community members who may be experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one. VON has a monthly session the last Wednesday of every month, open to the public and free of charge. The next session--"Dispel the Misconceptions About Grief"--will be Wednesday June 25th at 7pm at the VON office, 550 Queen Street West, Suite 203. Access to parking lot off Albert Street West. Please call to register by Monday June 23rd. Call 942-8200 extension 205. Misconceptions about grief are common in our society because we tend not to openly mourn. If you are grieving, you are encouraged to attend this session that deals with dispelling misconceptions about something as "in the closet" as grief.

The smile on their face will put a smile in your heart. Volunteers are needed to befriend young boys between the ages of 6-14. Be a friend, share similar interests and have fun. Scouts Canada is seeking Teen and Adult Volunteers for a after school program. Senior Scouts About is a leadership program for boys and girls ages 8 to 10 (Grades 3 to 5) that will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 3:45pm to 5:00pm at Alex Muir School. Activities include, active games, arts and crafts, storytelling, songs, playacting and outdoor activities. No experience necessary, training will be provided. Computer Classes Where: Sault Ste. Marie Main Library
The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library is conducting three free one-hour hands-on computer classes for adults called, Introduction to Computers, Introduction to E-Mail, and Introduction to the Internet. These classes are conducted at the Main Library. Class size is limited to two participants per session to ensure individual attention. Immunization Clinic Where: Cambrian Mall
In order to accommodate the need for immunizations in our community, the Algoma Public Health, has expanded its immunization services in Sault Ste. Marie, as well as TB skin testing/reading and Travel Consultations. The APH Immunization Clinic is now in operation at the Health Promotion Centre in the Cambrian Mall. Immunizations, by appointment only, will be given every Tuesday from 11:00am until 7:00pm and Thursday's from 8:30am until 4:30pm. To book an appointment call 541-7058.
